A few years ago, my husband Michael and I were invited to go to Napa Valley, California, USA, to help our friends Jeff and Andrea (his wife) with their new born Shiloh while they tried new wines and enjoyed balloon trips and mud baths. We were in charge of Shiloh while they “enjoyed life”. Well, Michael and I decided to begin our trip a few days earlier and study the area before they arrived, we decided to drive a little, learn about the wineries, rest and prepare for baby sitting. We had no idea that going to “babysit” would mean the beginning of a journey in the wine world that has given us more satisfaction than anything else in the world.

While in California, we visited many wineries and restaurants and in between Baby & Wine “bottles”, we begin to develop a sensitivity for wine flavors and varieties that has improved and gotten finer and finer as days go on.

After that trip in May 2004, we have visited the area of Napa and Sonoma Valley several times and learned a great deal about Californian wines.

Michael and I visit wine tasting rooms on a regular bases and one day he tasted a Spanish wine that he really liked, that was just a month before our trip to Spain. He met the son of the producer (Rodrigo) that day and exchanged cards. Rodrigo invited us to visit them in the area of Ribera del Duero (north of Madrid) and he would introduce us to some amazing wines. Well, WE DID and he was right. The winery was ALIDIS and he was right, their wines are AMAZING. We continued driving through Ribera del Duero and Rioja and fell more and more in love with the wines from Spain. Actually we work for Hidalgo Imports and represent Alidis and other great wine producers in the Broward and Palm Beach areas of South Florida.

I remember back in 1986 on our honey moon, we visiting wine caves in France as we traveled along the Loire River. We tasted and tasted delicious wines but we didn’t know we were going to be involved in the wine business 20 years later.

We have hosted many wine tasting events, some of them with a Chef Gerry who prepares the most perfect Food-Wine pairings for the delicious wines we present.We love doing this and would like to continue doing it.
